BRS Electrical was engaged to provide electrical design work for a new Raw Coal Conveyor to feed into the Yarrabee Washplant, covering the conveyor, local sump pumps, area lighting and allowance for future expansion.
In order for the conveyor to be integrated into the existing site Washplant and processing systems, PLC automation was implemented across most devices; this was achieved by use of a remote PLC rack to gather local inputs & outputs, and linking this into the existing site fibre network.
A major challenge for this project was the cable lengths required to supply the motor from the VVVF – which could have caused major hardware damage. To solve this issue, the site layout was altered to reduce cable run lengths and negate the need for output chokes.
With the final design complete, scopes and construction packages were sent out for tender and construction. After installation, BRS provided As Built services to update all electrical drawings to an accurate state and reissued to the client.
