Hitech Hobart quarry engaged BRS Electrical to undertake the supply, installation and commissioning of various electrical components as part of an upgrade at their existing quarry in Flagstaff Gully.
The upgrade was to install a modular primary crushing unit close to the quarry extension pit, then convey the primary crushed material to a new surge pile before conveying to the existing primary dump hopper. Material will be transferred to the surge pile via conveyors, including braked electrical regenerative drive conveyors.
The outcome of the project was to generate electricity from downhill conveyors while also providing a safe and cost effective method of transporting material from the extension pit to the existing plant.
