BRS Electrical were engaged by Siemens Australia to design the infrastructure to support their wind turbine generator test rig. The test rig was built from new and repurposed equipment from an overseas facility. Work was required to as-built the existing schematic design drawings as well as translate them to English. This then allowed for design required for power system reconfiguration to support the black start function of the test rig as well as modifications to the control and auxiliary services to work in its new home in the Rockhampton workshop.

What started as a simple power supply upgrade became a full site redesign to incorporate generator power system LV and MV power distribution and integration of test rig controls with the auxiliary cooling, hydraulic and generator utilities on the site.

The detailed electrical design involved creating updated electrical schematics, a complete redesign of the electrical reticulation and earthing. Modifications to drive and control panels for the imported machines and a complete Bill of Materials take off list.
